Ricardo Nagaoka:

I really like Ricardo Nagaoka’s portraits because they hold a sense of personality for the person in the photo. The people appear to be in their natural surroundings, comfortable but still looking at the camera; which gives me a sense of connection to the photos. His photos show personality context without having a lot included in the actual photos. In other words, you can tell who they are and often, what they’re doing just by seeing part of their face and body. Whether there’s something going on the background or not, I feel like I know whoever’s staring back at me in his photos. There’s a lot of raw emotion, which is what I want to capture with my portraits.
